My truck has been sitting for 2 weeks now and this morning when i turned the key..nothing. No lights, no meters, nothing works. so i checked fuses, they where all ok. tested the battery...2.73 V. The battery is rather new and there was power in it about 2 weeks ago so I dont think its the charging system or battery. I pulled some fuses and mesured volt in the fusebox, and both EFI and DOME shows 1.53 V, ignition at off, the others shows nothing...is this normal? My starter has been acting up before, after some tries it would start, but now...no power at all...What to do?

 

You have a drain somewhere...put all your fuses back in. Put a volt meter inline with the positve terminal on the battery and the positive cable. I would get your battery fully charged, just for craps and giggles before you start. It shouldn't matter as long as there's voltage in your battery. You should see some sort of voltage from the battery to the cable. Now, just simply start pulling fuses/breakers until the drain goes away. This should atleast narrow down the issue. Double check all of your wiring mods to make sure they not always hot. That happened to me once, couldn't hold a charge for a day!!

I had a bad regulator on an altenator that fried batteries so that they wouldn't stay charged...so I would check the battery with the engine on and rev it to make sure it isn't overcharging it.

If you cannot find a draw, it's possible the battery has a weak / dying cell or two. If the battery has removable caps, a quick check with a battery hydrometer, or a trip to an auto parts store that can load test batteries would tell you. It's not unheard of for new batteries to have bad cell(s).
