Buying a 94 extra cab 4x4, 3.0 5 spd.

This is my first post, seems like a great site.

I'm going to be buying a 94 extra cab 4x4 with a 3.0, 5 spd tranny.

The truck has had many things done to it including a short block, new parts and such. From what I have read, I should be okay on the head gasket.

My first question is, the truck has new 33" tires and 4.56 gears. Will my 1st and 5th gear be affected much? It has a limited slip in the rear so I would like to keep my ring gear.

Second question. What are some of the things I need to keep an eye on with this truck?

Last question, for now. What are some of the more inexpensive things I can do to get better performance out of the truck. I have read about the headers and 3.4 swap. Neither is on the list of upgrades.

Thanks!

Anyone?

Was there any differences in the 3.0 as far as HG go in the 94-95 models?

Is Toyota still honoring the recall even if the HG has been done by the idividual?

Take the vin to your local dealership and have them run it for the recall as far as I know if it has not been done they will still honor it

I remember reading somewhere that the 1989 3.0s had asbestos head gaskets, but asbestos was later replaced by the newer head gaskets due to the dangers of asbestos. The newer head gasket material never sealed as well as the original asbestos head gasket. I believe 1990 through 95 all have the same non-asbestos head gaskets.
