Best Hand Cleaning Mitt

Hey guys,

I'm in the mood to talk cleaning! What's one of the best washing mitts? I looked at...yeah...Wal-Mart and they have some Chenelle(sp?) type ones and I was GOING to get it but I decided that I could just my good old sponge til I could get a response from you guys on a mitt.

Also, anyone ever tried the Meguire's Wax in the tub? If so, how does it work?

Is it worth going with something like Griots? If so, where can I get the stuff cheap. I just read a post by Cebby on the UPS Christmas Gift and now I am wanting to wax REAL bad! And boy does my rig need it...MAN! So any advice would be good! I'm gonna go read through Corey's site just to freshen up on the whole waxing bit.

And while I'm making a new thread, whats a good yet cheap way to apply a wax...I can't afford a PC Buffer or anything...what else could I use? I know Meguire's comes with an applying cloth or something...but...yeah.

OK so I'm a nOOb :rockband:

Later guys! Gimme some advice on wax, hand mitts, and alternative wax applicators!!!!

Thanks guys! This board ROCKS :rockband: (I love that!)

Get the sheepskin mitt I rave about that is on my detail site.
Same one Cebby just got.
This old man has tried 'em all, and the Griot's one is the best one I have owned.

If you are not going with a PC setup yet, I have had good luck with the Zymol by hand and with the PC (as seen on my site as well) but it doesn't last for very long.
I also use to use Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax which is very similar to the Zymol, and it to just doesn't last.

If you ever do invest in a PC in the future, and you try the Griot's BOS wax, you will be amazed at how long it lasts in keeping the paint smooth and the water beading up.

If you lived by me, I'd give you my Zymol & Meguiar's wax.
I have quite a bit left still.

Thanks man, I am going to order that. I just need to make the decision of whether I am going to bite the bullet and buy the PC and do it all right or for now, just do the Zymol/Meguire's stuff.

I will probably end up just doing the Zymol and Meguire's stuff. Is that the stuff that comes in a tub or what does it look like? I saw something like that at my local parts store (or maybe it was Wal-Mart, unbelievable Wal-Mart has an AWESOME automotive cleaning sections and they are cheap too! I just got the Meguire's Hot Shot Tire Shine stuff for like 3 bux...its listed for 5 on their site!!) Anyway, I will order the mit and once I get that I will look around for the cleaner/wax stuff.

If all else fails, I could send you the money for shipping and you could ship me the stuff.

I will let you know what I decide on the PC!!

Thanks again man!

You can see a picture of the Zymol on my detail site.
It's cheap also, not very much $$$.

It's as soft as a baby's bum... I can't wait to use it. Compliment that mitt with some fine Griot's microfiber towels. (Mine arrived today - they are quite nice)

I have tried some of those quality Chaomos (sp?) drying cloths and have had NO luck with them. Is the MF Towel like those or can I just take it ouf the box and use it right away? No conditon or anything, it just soaks it all up? How do you dry it? Hang dry it?

Sheepskin mitt is on the way!!! Should be here mid next-week! Thanks for the advice guys!

I will look around for that Cleaner/Wax stuff, for some reason I just like the Meguire's better. I have never heard of Zymol and I have had prior experience with Meguire's products.

Thanks again guys, this board (and most importantly the members!) rock! :rockband:

The MF Towels are ready to use. I think you hang dry them - haven't christened mine yet. I got the 6 pack of small ones for taking off polish (3) and wax (3) and a large drying towel. They are a nice soft fabric.

Hmm...I just may have to think about that.

First priority right now is taking it to the shop on Monday and having them fix my idle/stalling and my Rear Anti-Lock deal. Then I will deal with the washing!

Thanks man!

Invest in a PC!

I just spent $250 at Griot's and it was worth every penny. I found my PC at Home Depot, special order for $150, so that is $400 for making my rig look GREAT! I use it on the wife's mini-van too.

I just started using the Griot's products and I cannot say enough GREAT things about them. My black rig glows in the dark practically! Check out my avatar!

4x4fink,

the griot's sheepskin mitt is the best. ive had mine 4 yrs and now its falling apart because (and this is a warning) i left it in soapy water for over a week. the backing deteriorated in that time b/c it became too soft. so don't be a moron like me and leave it in a bucket of soapy water. otherwise, the 3 1/2 years i had it pre-moronic episode, it was perfect.

Missed this thread earlier. I use the Eurow brand genuine sheepskin mitt from.... WalMart. They're only ~$5 so I get three. One for the painted steel surfaces, another for the plastic parts, and another to rub all over my girlfriend.

No doubt Griot's is better quality, but for the price I can replace the Eurow's every year or whenever I get a new vehicle. Be sure to rinse them thoroughly inside and out after each use. Then I slip them over a beer bottle and let them drip/air dry standing upright, which takes a couple of days.
