Blacked out the Amber Corners

Yesterday I tried blacking out my clear corners, baked them in the oven, got them apart, painted the inside black, all was going well until I tried resealing them and that was a disaster.. So next I decided to just black out the amber lenses, and here's how it turned out, let me know what you think...

Looks pretty good. Especially on your black truck.

I think it looks good. The lines in the lenses look nice with the grill.

Sorry to hear about the other lenses. Did they melt or something?

It is differnt but IMO it looks kinda cheap. Clear corners would look mch better IMHO.

But either way it looks better than amber

Well, they didn't melt. That epoxy just got everywhere, and when I tried sealing them back up, it just looked like crap...

Yeah I may buy some more clear corners and try to black the insides out again. My first attempt was a major fail...

First I used adhesion promotor, about three coats of that. And then I used this right here:

All taped & ready for paint:

Afterwards...

what benefit do you get by blacking out the side reflector ?

it is there so other people can see you and not take you out
from the side.

changing DOT spec visibility for the hollywood look inside your head
is jackassery

oh look I am correct again.

you'll get ticketed if a cop is paying attention.

Doesn't look too bad. I like it better than clears. However, you should've used a see-through coating and done it from the inside of the lens.

,

all mine are blacked out with 'niteshades' its a translucent plastic coating made for the interior of the lens, a can is about 7$ around san jose and is hard to find but easy as cake to put on and to adjust the color from maroon to almost black. every cop that ever talks to me just politely mentions that they arent stock colors but when i turn the lights on they are clearly visible with red amber and white bulbs so they always leave me alone..

i think that paint looks sharp.. you have a nice runner

Well the inside of the lens is already painted black.

I hate amber, that's why I did it. Doubt I will get pulled over for this, I see cars every day with the AVS blackout headlight covers which is definitely worse than what I've done.

Don't listen to him Fo_Sheezy. It looks good.

BigBalls needs to work on being a little more humble.

I like the blacked out look to the corners...... what color bulb do you have in there?

The "nightshades" spray sounds interesting...... anybody else do that?

i think it looks pretty darn good. too bad they don't make those with the clear reflector anymore. ignore the criticism, everyone has mods that have something that may be a little shakey on the DOT approved side so nixing the reflectors on the front is not a big concern i wouldn't think. i don't think anyone would have trouble spotting you!

i've used niteshades as well. if you do a few light "mist" coats you can get a good smoked look. the last time i used it, on my clear bumper signals, i put a light tack coat and then two heavier coats to black them out. and when they are lit up, you can see it perfectly; but they are almost completely black the rest of the time. i bought mine on ebay, it was a bit pricey with shipping but no one in town has it or will order it for me; that's the price you pay living in a smaller town.
