Is a 8" Lift to Much?
Hey,
I have the chance to get a good deal on a friends 1990 4runner.
It has a 8" suspension lift done with leaf over and shackles, custom ds, 33" tires, solid front axle swap.
Is that to much lift? Will it have problems with bad body roll?
Also if it was to high what would be involved to say drop it 4 inches?
Any other advice would be great.
Thanks

to drop it you would have to change the leaf springs, shocks, driveshaft, and probably a few other things to. that all told would cost as much as putting on bigger tires, like say 35" or even 38" tires.

Are you DDing this truck?
If so then maybe just for gas reasons, but if thats not a concern then definitely get bigger tires and call it a day. I also have to wonder why you picked a SaS'd truck w 8" of lift to be a DD...?

New springs. Perhaps new shackles. I doubt new driveshafts if they were properly made - but of course I've not seen them.
8" is a lot of lift for wheeling, and the later 4Runners have a fair amount of weight up top.
That's not how I roll. YMMV.
(oops, Billy made a funny...)
I would DD a fun truck, but it would be a shame to wear it out like that going to work.

Have the axles been regeared? i know its silly cuz almost everyone who sas's regears at the same time but maybe he only has 33's cuz its stock gearing? if so then u might want to look at gears for it. considering ur gona wheel it. 33's would be fine i think for stock gearing if ur commuting with it
