I'm buying a 1995 ext. cab Toyota pickup.

I'll post pics this weekend. It has a bad rod knock and it needs some body work. Owner wants $500 for it. I'm using it to replace my 1989 reg. cab pickup which has a hole in the frame and the body is shot.

Is there anything I should look out for while I have the engine out? I will be replacing the clutch.

yeah that C/V should be taken care of before too long. so are you just going to rebuild the 3.0 or have you considered a 3.4 swap? if i had a blown motor and had to completly rebuild it, i would seriously be considering putting in a 3.4.

I'd love to do a 3.4 swap,(moneys a little tight). A guy that I work with has a 3.0 shortblock that needs rod/main bearings and rings. I'll use that if the crank is shot on the truck I bought. I'm getting the shortblock for free. I just have to buy the parts.
The heads were done (supposedly) at the dealer about 5,000 miles ago. So when I pull the engine I'll see where I need to go from there.
