Hey, first off I'd like to say this forum rocks!
now, I just bought an 83 toyota pickup with the 22R, 224k miles on the clock and up until yesterday, it ran like a top. I was pulling out of a parking lot, everything was fine, then when I went for 2nd gear it lost all power. I stopped and went to take off again and it wouldn't rev out until I got into the secondarys, then it would be fine (at 3 grand...) I limped to the school auto shop in 4 low and put a can of carb clean though it and checked all my vaccum lines and made sure my primary was opening. I'm at a loss, this totally stumps me. does anyone have any words of wisdom to throw my way?

oh, and just for the sake of argument, I replaced the fuel filter when the problem arose thinking it wasn't getting enough fuel from there

 

stuck float in the carb? fuel pump problem? Idle solenoid (1 wire to the carb).

 

yeah, I was thinking stuck float too. I need the truck by friday so I just took it into my buddys shop and he is going to completely rebuild the carb for me and remove the EGR and all that emissions crap. All for $35 plus a rebuild kit so I don't think I can go wrong
