thinkin about buyin an '82 pick up for $500

ad reads "this 1982 toyota pickup is anything but perty,but it runs good, good gas milage and a/c works,it has a 20R motor with a 5 speed transmission, also has a webber carb.and good tires."


advice? what to look for, good, bad, what parts last and what dont on this truck?

#1 Double check the frame for rust and holes
#2 Check the 4 cab mounts inside for rust. Both floorboards and the mount in the rear corners. Peel the carpet up if it has it.

Then if thats all good anything else is fixable and you should have a solid truck.

82's came with 20r's?

 

not a chance .. /82 original engine was 22r .
if it's a 20R , then it has been replaced .

 

500 is a deal. I'd buy it, I need a new one
