I am assembling the pistons to connecting rods. The pins slide easy in the pistons but are not sliding in the connecting rods. Do i have to press these in or are they suppsoed to be a slip fit?I installed the new bushing in the connecting rod already .

i usually have the peeps that do my mchine work press them for me! i think those brass bushings in the rod also have to be fitted/honed for the correct fit for the pins! not shure on that though!

ohh and this is a 4cyl rite? i have never built a 3.slow!

I'm not so sure about that. I've never had to press the wrist pins into the rods.

 

they are not press in they are floaters thats why they come with wrist pin clips. when installing bushings in the rods most of the time you will need to have the small end honed

 

thank you on the corection! like i said i usaualy have the machine shop hang mine on the rods. sorry for the misleading info!

i guess i got mixed up. the brass bushing i belive has to be pressed in then honed to fit your wrist pin. then clips hold piston to the pin.

 

Aside from the bushing fit, I usually put the piston in boiling water for a minute or so, oil the pin on assy also.
