Rear Leafs (any other brands fit ? )

i've been trying to find a cheap way to replace the rear leafs in my 89
4Runner....something i could scrounge at the junkyard, i searched the forum and found nothing.....

Depends on how "cheap" he means. If you can't weld/don't have much money Allpro and Marlin are out of the question. Even Chevy springs aren't cheap when you can't weld. That said, I'm glad I've had a job welding for the past year because it's become invaluable

Also if your current leaf springs aren't bent or broken but you want to add some life just get a pair of junkyard springs, take both pairs apart and use a chopsaw to cut down a couple leafs to add to each side (install so they are staggered, no 2 leafs in the same spring are the same size, and go from longer to shorter). That is about the cheapest you can get aside from getting a super stiff add-a-leaf.

If you can weld go Mazda or Chevy 63 but if you don't want lift avoid both.

i see....i've been flip flopping on putting a lift in and getting the kit that comes with new leafs....just hard to stomach 1200 bucks to do it, and thats before taxes.....so hard to decide what to do


i appreciate the information though, and my father is a welder so that's never really an issue
