I recently bought a 2006 Rav4 with a CD/MP3/WMA player as standard equipment ,it plays cds great ,even the ones I burned myself.Trouble is when I burned a mp3 it wont play . I have heard you can put way more songs on a mp3 disc than a cd. Im very new at this and burned some song on a cd disc but used mp3 mode (in nero) to burn them ,instead of cd mode .I dont think I put more tha 10 songs or so on the disc .Any way it wont play in my rav4 or in my aftermarket cd/mp3 player in my other vehice . any advise will be appreciated.

 

try burning in slowest possible speed... that always helps in mine (pretty much was one of the first mp3 player made for cars)

also make sure that it is not formatted into too many folders/subfolders.. I am trying to think of more specifics but can't, hate to say it but check the owner's/op manual for either of them, may give generic guidelines

 

Create a data CD. Drag the mp3 files onto the disc. If there is an option to finalize the disc, it should be selected, but I can't recall for sure. It's been a while since I've burned an mp3 disc.

 

yep, me too, I could not stand the lag between tracks, and when browsing/skipping or doing anything but just letting it play

I figured one of the best features was displaying title/artist, but when mine took 2-5 seconds to recognize each between songs when just skipping, I gave up real quick, then again, it came out around 2002-2003 so I hope they have improved it =)

Now I just use an IPood and a $20 wire off ebay for an aux in to special plug connection on my Pioneer

 

make sure you finalize the disc when your done adding songs

My latest deck has a USB port so I can plug in a memory key with whatever I just dragged & dropped on it. 4GB as opposed to 756MB. Still luh me some MP3s.

 

The trick is you do not want to create an audio CD, you want a data CD. Your mp3 player will then read the data file,and play properly. It took me a couple to figure out when I got my first mp3 player too.

Check the instructions on your CD player that came with your car. you might find that it requires your disc to be ISO9660 and not Joilet format, it also might be primitive enough to require all the files to be "flat" at the 'root' of the disk. These are just possibilities. And to echo earlier replies, don't forget to close or finalize the disk.
I love my Sony Xplode player, it was cheap and it has AUX and USB!! :-)
