91 4x4 pickup auto trans problem

Up until recently, the only problem ive had with the transmission was that the o/d light would blink everyonce in a while. Last sunday, I got stuck out on a trail crossing that sunk my truck up to the doors. It sat in the hole (running of course) for a good 30-40 mins till I could get someone back there to help pull me out. Next morning, leave to go to work and nothing happens in any gear, it seems like it attempts to move but doesnt actually. The transmission has never slipped with me either. After work, i found a kinked line from the cooler, so i cut it out and replaced the damaged section, also dropped the pan and cleaned out the old fluid in case of water contamination and replaced the filter. The harness plugs for the transmission had some water inside so i disconnected them to dry out. Is there a way I can disable the electronics of the transmission so i can still somewhat drive the truck or atleast test the rest of the transmission? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I apologize for the long winded typing.

Hey Boost,

Sounds like You probably starved/overheated the pump, with that kinked line, and submerged at the same time. Trans cant dissappate heat.

You can check pump pressure, with the right gauge and fittings, theres a tap on the trans. But I suspect toast, did the atf smell burnt, like burnt wiring?

Thanks Kiwi

the fluid wasnt anything out of the ordinary.

Update: the truck drove today in 4wd, took a little bit to get it to move in 2wd. The problem still exists however, If i try to change from 4wd to 2wd it will not move, and Ill have to turn the truck off and put it back in 4wd for it to move. The kickdown cable is also broken, the best way for me to get the truck to move was to pull the cable tight and lock it into place. The truck runs the same with the harness disconnected off the tranny or connected.

Hey Boost,

Try fixing the kickdown cable, as this controls Your pump pressure.

If You keep it fully applied, You will finish off the trans. If its still good.

Thanks Kiwi
