C.B. Radio install location

This is what I've done but changing channels and adjusting squelch while driving can be a bit of a pain because of the stretch. Overall I'm happy with it though. I can leave it in there permanent and it's a cool thing to see whenever I open it to get something

Have you seen those rubber mats (sticky pad) that you put on the dashboard so you can put cel phones on or sunglasses and it keeps them from sliding around?
If you don't check out your local Pep Boys or Radio Shack. I know for sure they have them.
Anyhow, I just put that on the bottom of the CB itself where its most likely to slide around on. Haven't run into any problems
I've seen Performance Products with a glove compartment organizer but $40 seems too much.
I think I'm going to try to make one up myself instead

I have the full stock stereo system - radio, CD, tape deck
... and I'm leaving it stock. I've seen too many broken windows because of nice stereos
If I wasn't worried about that I'd probably mount it the same way. Just more convenient.
That's nice work Jackson

I was getting ready to do that and then figured I'd save myself any external holes should I someday decide to remove the CB for replacement of a different type or size.
Besides, I'm lazy and don't want to take a CB in and out. Much rather just leave it there and out of sight so I don't have to worry about increasing my chance of theft.

Mine currently lives up there to but its nothing pretty. The power and ground wires are taped together and run up the center of the windshield, (not taped to the windshield) Antenna and mic wires are kinda hanging and going opposite directions. Mic to the side of the gauge pod and antenna to the passenger door mirror area.
The box itsself is held to the celing using a screw from the dome light and a rod that holds the headliner up. I used that metal strapping stuff with holes every 1/2 inch and normal nuts and machine screws. Then to hold it tight, I wedged in some spare wood blocks I had laying around and used wood screws through the holes in the strapping.
Looks like crap, works perfectly.

I used my console; with a CB mount rivited to the side of the console so it slides between two washers, this way you can move the CB forward or backwards when you move the seat. Then, I took a bicycle reflector mount and rivited it into the console so I can hook up my streamlight. Some slight modifications to it to make it look presentable.
Its been on over a year now and no problems.
