difference in width between pickup and tacoma? (re: arb bumper)

.. more to the point, will an ARB built for a Tacoma fit onto a Pickup without either being far too short or sticking way out on the sides?

I have a chance to get a free ARB off a wrecked Tacoma, for the cost of shipping it across the country. I figure there's no point in paying the shipping only to find it's not going to fit on my rig lengthwise - and my buddy could get more money for it if he sold it where he is. I know I'll probably have to fab new mounts, which is no big deal.

Anyone have the dimensions of both trucks?

I was thinking worst case scenario I could cut a section out with a torch and weld it back together.. how ghetto is that

It is a little wider, but not a ton.

It depends on what you would consider "goofy"...

Personally, I think it would be fine, but yes, it will stick out on the sides.

The mounting systems are COMPLETELY different.

You could absolutely do it, but you will have to cut it up and reweld it.

well, i'm getting it shipped along with his 3.4 and all the parts, so it won't break the bank to get it here.. i may as well go for it

i was just going to torch off the mounting brackets and spend some quality time with some plate steel to replicate the ARB mounting design for the 3rd gen pickups. does anyone have any upclose photos of how their ARB is mounted to their 89-95 pickup?

thanks folks!

If you decide not to take it tell your buddy I might be interested in buying it. When you say 'shipping it across the country' I assume it's already on my side.

yep, it's in van right now. he'll be trailering it to victoria in the next few weeks. the bumper's almost brand new; he only bought it in august. has some dents and dings i believe from the tow operator dragging his upside-down rig along on the bumper :/

i'm probably gonna take it but if not i'll let you know his number so you can get in touch.

and if anyone else needs any parts from a 2001 tacoma, he'll be parting it in the next few weeks...
