in my stock housing with stock wiring and everything. Also, if I can't could u please tell me why and what will happen (disregarding that these are for offroad use only). Also, i you don't know or do not have experience with it don't give me false information please, just let the people that know what they are talking about answer the question.

i believe lights that approach the 100w mark while using the stock wiring will put a strain, if not melt out, the stock wire simply because it's so small...however, some companies make headlight harness upgrade kits that upgrade to larger wiring from the relays to the bulb, so you might want to check that out...but, beware of all of these "blue" coated bulbs out there that claim to be brighter, but really look dimmer...not to dis hella, but just some info from experience...but good luck with your choice man...

 

I ran them (mounted in '99 light housings) for about 6 months in my rig.
Made me nervous! I put in a harness and basic Hella H4 130/90s.
Aimed correctly...and the light output is amazing!

 

i use IPF 80/110 H4s with ARBs sealed beam lamp changeover inserts & ARBs upgraded wire harness in the 91 runner.ARB says cant use that bulb in the 97 runner though(plastic composite lense)so i use the sylvania ultra whites in it.they are not as bright & far reaching but what the heck.also have the IPFs in my 16yr olds 92 toy 4wd truck.he's just got his permit so i feel better about his safety at night with those lights.he can see better & drivers see him better

 

i run them but built my own relay's for high, low, and fog lights. The stock wiring is the week link. I noticed improvement when i add just the relays to the stock bulbs.

 

hrm i run them completely stock... in my 89 and my 99... very bright!

 

So I run the risk of melting the wiring but from what I understand it should be ok?? I mean I know the guy before me ran 100w bulbs in the fog lights and they still work.

 

Do it right or don't bother.

 

I have been running those in my headlights for over 6 months with no adverse affects, while there will be more strain on the stock wiring, it has not caused any damage to my wiring. As for brightness they are a good bit brighter than standard H4 bulbs, with a harness upgrade they will be even brighter and you wouldnt have to worry about possible damage to the stock wiring.

 

I am thinking about going to a higher wattage bulb too. I just worry about blinding others and possibly getting a citation. Has that been a problem for anyone who has run the higher wattage bulbs on the road? I already have an upgraded wiring harness if that makes a difference.

 

i would assume you could no problem.
i run Hella 100/80W H4 bulbs with stock wires in my 91 Surf/4Runner and i am about to run the Hella 120/90W cool blue bulbs and they run bright, so no adjustment needed.

 

that answers my question pretty much...4 ppl running it without any adverse effects...i guess i'll take my chances...
