96-98 4runner versus 99 ?!?!

I have a 99 4runner that I am looking to mount a winch on the front due to cost I was looking to put on a front hitch though warn says it only fits the 96-98 4runners is there truely a difference between the 98 and my 99 as far as frame/mounting goes? Any other alternatives?

The '99+ 4Runners have the fat-lip bumper and the crush-bar. So if you add a warn front receiver to it, the receiver end will still be behind the bumper.

Also, Bamachem told me that a portion of the crush-bar is in the way of the receiver so it's not going to be a bolt-on installation. A mod may be necessary to get it installed.

So you will need to extend either the receiver end or the winch mount tube since you can't install the winch behind the bumper due to the crush-bar position.
