Exclamation Throttle body hose crack and other ?s

Hello All...a few quick questions

the hose that comes right off the throttle body is cracked from the edge to the hole where the tube that comes off it is. (the hole connects a hose to the valve cover) i used electrical tape..yes iam cheap to go around the edge on the outside but nothing on the inside. I have been having hesitation issues while driving. I have checked plugs and cap/rotor all look ok what does a bad cap rotor look like? could it still be considered a vacuum leak if the outside is good? I tried the propane test but have no clue what i am looking for. I teach 5th grade sorry for the 5th grade type questions I now live in Denver...maybe bad gas for the truck and not me any ideas or answers would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes when accelerating or especially when starting off from a stop, the engine will torque in the motor mounts and open up an otherwise unseen crack in the air inlet, letting air bypass the MAF sensor and cause hesitation.
This could be the problem unless you are talking about a different hose.

Put on RTV sealer inside and out and try that.

Its the big hose coming off the throttle body, it was split from the edge to the hole that leads out the top to another hose. I wasnt sure if even though i taped it on the outside if it would still screw it up. i drives but rough..

Post up some pics, that will help. Also what engine size and year 86 to 95 is a bit vague. Any codes thrown, symptoms, under what conditions (idle or load). A bad cap may have cracking, buildup on the metal surfaces or carbon tracking.
