Powdercoat Alum. Wheels
#2
I heard that powdercoating cast alum wheels is bad. The heating process weakens the rim. I'm not 100% on this. Maybe someone else will chime in. But for the price of powdercoating you could just buy some black steel wheels for cheaper (if black was the color you were going for).

I would be very curious about this myself.
I know for fact that any part that is being prepped for powdercoating has to be thoroughly cleaned, I wonder if they would have to sandblast older wheels also.
Any of the aluminum wheels I ever had eventually had at least some pitting and markings that I couldn't remove that I assume was baked on brake dust.
Would scratches and pitting have adverse effects on the process?
