Need Help - Mickey Thompson Classic II ???

Hello,

I am new to this GREAT FORUM & I just picked up my first Toyota 4Runner, Dark Green 1999 Highlander. Its completely stock & am in the process of acquiring all the parts for a Suspension lift, 1" Body, DIY mods, Wheels/Tires 285/75/16...etc.

I have searched through endless pages of threads & would appreciate any info. in regards to:

- Mickey Thompson Classic II 16x8 Rims

They seem to be offered with two BS sizes:
- 3.625 in.
- 4.4375 in.
* I saw member "Darren"s post that he used 1/4" spacers w/ the 4.4375 in. BS MT Classic II 16x8

- Does anyone have a 3rd Gen Toyota 4Runner w/ these wheels w/ 3.625" BS & 4.4375"BS 16x8 - from a FRONT/BACK Shot/Photo They can post Please ???

- I'm trying to get a visual as how the two would look, especially how far the 3.625" BS wheels will stick out past the fender/body line.

&
- I know its personal preference, but am I better off keeping my Factory Toyota 5 Star Wheels + 285/75/16 & Adding 1/4" Spacers Instead ?

Any Help would be GREATLY Appreciated, Thanks for helping a Newb.

Have a good one,
F.T.K.

I saw some visits to my site from this thread, otherwise I wouldn't have seen it. Anyway, if you plan to take your 4Runner off-highway, DO NOT get the wider wheels and don't worry about how they look. They will rub, and very likely rub bad. They will definitely not be worth the hassle. If yours is a street ride, then the extra width wouldn't matter.

As far as keeping the stock wheels and adding spacers, that is all a personal decision, but I doubt you'd be able to tell much of a stance difference with 1/4" spacers. If it's just width you're after, wheels are obviously the much better way to go about it as opposed to spacers, but that's your call. Unfortunately, the Classic IIs don't come in a backspacing version that is friendly to our 4Runners.

Thank you both for the info above.

Darren, your 4Runner is VERY Clean, VERY NICE !!!!

I wanted to go the M/T Classic II route, but without spacers. Seems the 3.625" may be too much, & stick out to far. I have the thinner/skinny fenders & not the Limited wider fenders, it will probably look funny on mine sticking out that far.

As this will not only be used just as my DD, but need it to be capable Off Road in the Desert/High Desert. Thanks for the info. I guess I will do the same & go with the 4.4375" BS w/ 1/4" spacers or go another route for wheels.

If anyone has additional info. Always Appreciated.

Would the ProComp Xtreme Alloy Series 1069; NON-Hub Centric 16x8 6 5.5 be a good alternative to the M/T Classic II ??? They have a 4in BS,

-or-
Would something closer to 4.25" / 4.5" BS - be better suited ???

Thanks!

4.25" is optimal. 4" would be the next best. I forget what the stock wheels are. I believe it's something like 4.4", if I recall. Just under 4.5", though. I would probably go with a look-alike Classic II if I did it again just to avoid the spacers, though I have had no problems with mine (spacers). I wish they, or similar versions, also came with a clear coat, which would require less maintenence to look good. Not that I maintain mine or really care that much. Just cleanser and a brush!

This is a photo of my Limited 4Runner with the 3.5" BS Classic IIs. This is the best I can do...no front shot. Keep in mind these have 315/75s on them.

Wait, these are M/T 16x8 with 4.5 bs, or 3.625 bs? Also, what size tires are those?
