Question Factory Deck: 97 tacoma

Hey guys, so this yota I just got has an after market cd player with the pocket below.

my question is: what other toyota cd player will plug and play with my set up?

I'm looking at a cd/ cassett player from a 2005 4runner and would like to know if I can make this work.

ok thanks

if the aftermarket deck was installed the original installer didnt hack off the factory plug, you have a 50/50 shot if it will work or not.

most of the 4runner decks need a factory amp to work, and even though some of the tacomas had factory amps, they were a different kind and had different plugs. depending on years, there may also be an issue with the dimmer circuit even if it plugs in.

if you can post a pic of the back of the 4runner deck, I can tell if it needs the amp or not. if it does not need the amp, then the only other thing left to do is yank that aftermarket deck and see if the plugs still exist.

you may want to also consider a Scion unit (no cassette though). I swapped one into my 4Runner...plug-n-play
