Just found out yesterday my 1990 4Runner that I had bought used still had some Special Service Campaigns (SSC) procedures available still:

1. 50N Steering Relay Rod Replacement

2. V06 Engine Head Gasket

3. P01 A/C Expansion Valve

Woo hoo! Free Head Gasket replacement. Ha ha. That's $980.00 CDN plus parts! Ha ha. I am gonna abuse the out of the 4Runner then bring it in for that service. Ha ha. At which time I'll have the whole engine redone. Ha ha.

I also have a 1990 4runner. What are these free replacements that your talking about? Is it free? Is it through the dealership? How do I find out about them?

 

Call Toyota Motor Sale,U.S.A.,Inc. at 1-800-331-4331 with your (VIN) on hand and ask them to see if your vehicle has any recalls completed. they will go on their computer system and check it out for ya.

 

Thanks, I just called that number and found out that I have a recall on my steering relay rod also. I was hoping for the head gasket but I wasn't that lucky. Oh well if something is free ill take it.

 

Wow? I know the person I bought my 1990 4runner 4x4 3.0 from already said the head gasket has been done about 100k ago. So I don't think I qualified for that again. I'm almost done with redoing my head gasket myself, oh well, but the others recalls, hmmmm. I am calling to find out Monday! I didn't think I should even bother with something so old, but hey, if they are gonna do it for free, I'll take them up on that! Thanks for the info!
