hi all. i've lurked for a while but this is my first post. i recently bought an '01 4runner with the 3.4l v6. well i started smelling burning oil, and discovered that the driver side valve cover is cracked and dripping oil onto the exhaust manifold or a heat shield. the crack is right by the front bolt below the oil fill cap.

in my quest to replace the valve cover on the cheap, i've been looking for a used one. i found a valve cover from a '97 4runner which also has the 3.4l v6. does anyone know if it will fit on my '01, or if they changed some minute detail over the years? any help is appreciated. thanks.

 

all the parts on the 3.4 should be interchangeable. that said, i don't know of any minut changes they would have made- especially with the valve cover. i'm sure the gasket would even be adjusted if it were different, eh? good luck
