whats the electronic box under my dash???

hey.. i took off the panel cover under the steering wheering wheel to try and see what is wrong with my wobely steering colomn cover... and found this box under their that seems to be shorting out somewhere under the colomn.. i was wondering what this little box is and why its spliced into these two wires... i was also wondering if this has anything to do with my dash cluster dimming knob not dimming anything?

theirs another box behind it that looks similar to the one pictured.?

sr5, keyless entry, no alarm...

thanks for any advice!

Looks like a remote-starter control box (if you have remote-start). If it is, then your keyless entry is likely controlled by it also. It could simply be keyless entry if you don't have a remote starter. Whatever it is... it's aftermarket.

its definetly not factory, it is an aftermarket brain box for a keyless remote, alarm system.
