Thinking about fabing a bumper and roll cage.

Just trying to find out if most people bolt on their front bush bumpers and if there is access to any specs that would make the fabricators job easier?

I am also looking for as many pics as possible of bumpers and roll cages and stuff, so if you got a sweet one or know of any good links lemme know.

cheers

toyotatom93, I am in the same boat as you are. I have been looking at rear bumpers for the last week, and it seems most front and rear are bolted on.

i cut an inch or so off the end of my frame rails, did WATRD's end-cap mod, then welded on two 1/4" plates with holes to bolt my bumper to. i also welded plates onto the "side" stock bumper mounts to bolt the bumper on to. So there is some strong welding with my bumper, but ultimately it is bolted with 12 grade-8 bolts.

Thanks guys, And drguitarum nice job on your bumper, looks so sweet. Totally the same thing I am going for (without cutting the frame I hope ) with the built in skid plate and some nice lamps. Just think of how nice that spare would look on a nice long and low baja cage.

After what seemed hours of googling I fianally found a few designs I like from some shops that happen to be relativly close. Seems like for me the best thing is to replace the stock bumper with something beefier.

As for the roll cage, now I am torn. I want one kind of baja style, with the spare tire on the back, but dont want to lose the cargo area (even if it is for a few days out of the year I auctually need to haul stuff). If I could make the spare holder removable tho? I still plan to use the under the box spare tire too. Mostly want the extra tire on the back for the look and also some extra weight for winter mountain driving. As long as the snowboards have room to go under.

Anyway here are a few links that might help others looking for stuff like this.

Heres a link to the bumper style I'm after, I like the top pics.

Some more ideas. I like the bumper w/ skid plate design.
