MC09 on the trail: 125 to 1 versus 252 to 1

125 to 1. Very nice low range but I would not call it a crawl. I still had to use the gas a bit and the engine would "almost" die at idol when crawling over 2-3 foot bolders. 125 to 1 would be a really nice feature to add to new Tacoma's. Stock low (around 60 to 1 and the 125 to 1). You still have a decent trail speed, I think this makes the 5 speed the same as an automatic in a rock garden. You still get a bit of a surge on the way down off the rock.

252 to 1. Really silly slow but............ It will crawl over anything, no engine variance and the up the rock and down the rock is completley controlled. What I am saying is that with this low the cralwer lifts you up the rock and lowers you back down nice and easy as well. No surge on the way down.

All in all it was very nice to have these gears available. I would have been disapointed with dual stock cases and to loose the stock low range would have not been desirable either. That is a nice speed for slightly rocky stuff or hills.

Cool Steve. One of these days I'll venture out that way and get you to take me thru the rocks.
