85 4runner with no power after tranny swap?

Hi all. I'm new here and didn't see anything in previous posts specific to my problems. Anyway I have a 85 4runner with a 22re and swaped out the auto for a 5 spd. I was told that the wiring would not be an issue and could just leave it unplugged. Now the engine has no power almost like it is in "limp" mode. Is there any way to bypass the computer somehow? Someone else out there had the same problem or is it even an electrical issue? Thanks in advance.

You need to jump the Neutral Safety plug. It is a large round plug found on the passenger side of the engine.

I just took a short section of wire and crimped a spade connection on either end and plugged it into the round plug.

You might check my build thread, I can't remember if I posted a pic or not. If not, and you need a pic let me know and I will track it down.

It wouldnt run at all with the neutral saftey switch thinking its not in neutral.

I doubt its something to do with the computer. Maybe something got knoked loose during the swap?

Did you unplug the ECT unit? It's under the radio.

Clarify please...does the above statment mean "no power" as in it "won't start".

OR

it starts but has "no power".

I'm kindda slow

Sorry for the delay guys. I haven't had a chance to mess with the truck in a few days. New baby keeping me busy. I did jumper wire the one large plug to get it to start. It does run decent at low speeds. With it to the floor I can only get up to about 60mph in 4th. 5th is useless. I have tried it with and w/o the tcm with no change.
