I own a 88 sr5 and 85 deluxe 4runner and want to switch to above noted tire size. Now the brand is what I need to know to go with. Preferably AT. No mud tires. Im currently using 32x11.50x15 Phantom (Discount tire brand) on the 88, and has a 2" body lift. The 85 needs some TLC but has lots of potential.

 

Get a set of 16" wheels and then 255/85/R16 tires. There are alot more to choose from.

 

Goodyear MTRs are cool, Yokohama Geolandar AT+II is pretty nice tire too, I'm not a big fan of the BFG AT's personally. you could get some swampers, or some Kumho Road Ventures..

I been split betwixt the Kumho's and the MTR's for my pickup.

 

you could get the bfg a/t. i really enjoy my set and would get them again if i wanted another a/t tire.

 

I had some LTX A/T on my 4runner when I got it. I loved those tired i probably would have kept them if I haddn't moved to 33's there only bad quality is that they are a little bad in the rain but I had lots of luck with them off road and as a plus I talked to one guy who almost got 100,000 miles out of them

 

my taco has BFG ATs which i have liked a lot since ive had them.

my 4runner has kuhmo road venture ATs which have GREAT traction and ride nice but they are rediculusly loud

 

MT/R does not come in that size.

 

AxleIke is correct. MTR's only come in 33x12.50x15, no 33x10.50x15.

 

I pretty much agree with everyone else and go for the BFG A/T T/A's.

I just got my Mudd Terrain T/A's today . I can't wait to go dirty them up.

I saved my old wheels and I'm gonna be putting BFG A/T's on them for winter use. The Mudd T/A's aren't very loud at all if your going to be doing a fair amount of wheelin I would highly reccomend them.

Plus I think they look awesome







I had Goodyear A/T's on it before, and they actually worked surprisingly well off road. In snow and ice though they were somewhat lacking. If you won't be going offroad that much get them siped. It really helps your wet/snow traction. For ice.... well there isn't much you can do there.

I've heard good things about the Mickey Thompson A/T's, and the Pro Comps. But everyone has their opinion.

 

I wouldnt get bfg all terrains unless they were free. mud terrain work way better then all terrain imo and actually seem to last longer then bfg all terrains

 

He's asking for tall and skinny tires for 15" rims.

The BFG AT comes in 33x9.50 and 33x10.50
The BFG MT comes in 33x10.50
There's a Special Service Super Swamper TSL in 34x9.50
There's a Super Swamper LTB in 34x9.50

There's not a lot of choices for a narrow 33" tire for a 15" rim. Most 33" tires are 12.50" wide. Like 914Runner said, going to a 16" rim gives you access to 285/85R16 tires and there's a lot more choices there. If I had the money, this is probably the way I'd go.

 

Any particular reason you feel that way?

 

i run the bfg mud 33x10.50 and they work great

 

I see nothing wrong with BFG ATs. I've had them on my truck for about a year and they've been nothing but good to me on and off road. I'm also partial to Dayton Timberlines, but I'm not sure if they make the size you're looking for.

sorry to bring this back from the dead...but I've got the same question. the only manufacturer I can seem to find is BFG...anyone else still making this size? it also seems like ordering online is my only option...can't find any tire stores that stock these

the swamper tsl narrow. best god dang off road tire hands down.

they wear like crazy on road though...very crazy

 

BFG, Toyo and Superswamper are the only companies that make a 33x10.50 to my knowlege.

BFG has the mud and AT
Toyo has just the mud
and superswamper pretty much makes every tire they have in a 33x10.50
