MTs on a daily driver??

So I'm needing new tires pretty bad and I think Im gonna bite the bullet this week. I had planned on getting some MTs but since then got moved to a different job and travel about 400 miles a week(straight to work and straight back) . I'd say my rig will probably see about 80% on road 20% off.
I know several of you have MTs on daily driver/weekend warriors...how many miles are you seeing out of them?
Thanks

Edit: misread your question first time around. I just put mine on about 8k km ago, so we'll see, but they still look pretty new.

you would probably be smarter to buy some cheep wheels for the m/ts...street tires handle better.

I've gotten about 45K out of my MTR's and on the same track with my Maxxiss Bighorns. If you're set on MT's yuo might check into the Cooper Discoverer STT - from what I've read they are a little harder rubber compound so should last a little longer on road. But honestly, with that kind of milage - you might be better of with an agressive all-terrain.

If you deal with snow, they may not do that well during that time of year. I have 'em on my truck and I have no problems with it being overly loud or anything.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.
Yeah, Im thinking I should probably go ATs too...just really wanted MTs.
I was dead set on the bighorns but then got moved and the place with the cheapest price cant get them anymore.
I did find some 33x12.50 BFG ATs for $108/tires mounted and balanced...probably the best way to go.

With the price of gas now, I would certainly be looking at whatever had the minimal rolling resistance...

Kinda hard with our hobby. 155/80R13s would be best, but you'd have to drive a metro for that...

If you want MT's then go with them - slight penalty in tire wear and noise but really hasn't been a big deal for me. I have over 30,000 on the MTR's on my '91 and they still have plenty of tread. My '91 was my DD for 4 years.

I think you will be very sorry if you buy those BFG AT's those wear just as fast as most MT's

No kidding. I stopped into a new tire shop, said he had the best prices around. Before that, the cheapest I had seen was $130 a piece.

I've put about 25000 km on my 33"x12.5" Durango MT Radials with almost no wear... Drove all winter with no ill effect.... They cost me $145 per tire and of course that's Canadian.... I drive it about 350kms on an average week... And wheel both mud and rock.....

MT's are 3 times better than AT's. They wear about the same and you will get a lot further off road on MT's over Allturds.............

im going with 33x12.5 BFG MT's once i get the money for em with all the good reviews on mileage you can't beat it. Out of all the reviews i read they average like 38 or 39K miles and i think i read on tire rack a review a guy claimed to have 72K miles on them. With my locker in the rear i just want 30K hehehe

Well, turns out the lowest he can go is $155 a piece for MTs and $107 for ATs, so I went ahead and went ATs.
If I could have gotten MTs around $140 or so things might be different, but hopefully I'll be satisfied.
Thanks for all the replies guys

Another thing to consider in the calculation of how long tread life will be is how hot it is, here in AZ the summer @ 110 ambient temp means the ground is hot enough to fry an egg. MT's get TORE UP from just DD out here. I love the sound and extra traction off-road. I only have put about 10K miles a year on - so I hope to get 2 1/2 years out of my BFG MT's.

Look into Dayton Timberline MT's. 33x12.50 is the largest made. They are a Bridgestone/Firestone off brand. However they are made with holes for screw in Stud for winter driving.
