Put on new calipers last night, after doing a master last week and having no change in my spongy, almost-to-the-floor, little braking issue. Put the old one back on, put a nail in each port (good roadside fix for a broken line instead of crimping ) both together and individually, and old master was fine. Replaced original master should be bled well, no air in the lines to the caliper, but pedal is spongy on the first tap of the pedal, with full pedal on the next press. I'm a bit baffled...does it sound like still more air in the master, or possibly something else?

Make sure you rear brakes are adjusted properly.

 

Hmm..spongy brakes are usually caused by air in the brake system as we know. The air is compressing so it takes up less space. But...a spongy pedal can also result from faulty residual pressure check valves in the master cylinder or unadjusted brake shoes... thats about all help I can give

 

Dont forget to bleed the LSPV its last and air does get trapped up there as its the highest point other than the master.

 

How are your front pads? if either the front pads or rear shoes are too far gone, it can cause the problem you described.

 

Front pads are new with the calipers...will check the lspv and see what happens...thanks
