A good free versatile video converter: SUPER ?
Somebody brought this to my attention, and it works really quite well. It even converts google video and youtube.
The player plays video very faded, but it looks fine in the Windows media player afterwards.
Of course things take a little experimenting. I've been converting to avi, and it will ask you which format to use after that. Xvid seems to be good, the codec is free.
