3-31-07: Disney, OK

Pretty good trip all-in-all.

Met 11:00am right on 112 and headed up to Disney, arrived about 1 because of an unexpected detour, but all was well. Got started with a little rut action.

Little water crossing:

Airing Down/Playing a little bit:

The shaky-handed photographer (and some water):

This hill was a lot steeper than it looks here:

::Insert Hill Climb Pics and Broken Window Pics here::

Unfortunately, we have no pics of the most intresting part of the day, because we were kinda busy.

In short Garrett ended up rolling backward down a hill and being "t-boned" by a tree. Damage was minimal until we starting winching, and just being against a tree is never good. some glass and part of a roof rack later... he was off the tree and we slowly finished the trial. Anthony might have some pics of the carnage.

Back to pics, playin in the rut again:

Found some rocks and some fun shots:

Hit the jackpot:

One last "cool" pic:

Some scenery:

the dam/spillway:

one video... this was also a bit steeper than it looks here.

And thats all she wrote...

Hopefully some other pics are posted. had a great time.

Will be going back there for sure! SO much to do.

Nice pics Looks like it was a good time. If I had my 4runner going I'd love to have gone with you guys. I've been over there probably 7 or 8 times to wheel. I really like to camp over there too. Maybe by the next run I'll have my motor dropped back in and running decent.

PS. Sucks about the body damage

uploading garrett's pics... will add soon... none of the damage though.

Here they are:

and here is sort of sequence of events of the carnage:

one: he is attempting obstacle, no worries.

two: starts to roll back, ok, crap, what happened?

three: he doesn't stop and we panic because we just came up quite a steep hill, soon enough, a tree stops and im pretty sure saves this kids life

four: mr. jeep pulls up w/ a winch. crap guys, i dont have a very long winch rope. made for interesting pull approach.

five: winching starts to pull his front away from the tree, but he can only pivot, winch cant pull all that dead weight. so anthony attempts to help but the ground is so unstable and soft underneath, he buries just a little more and his back end beings to slide to the tree again

six: carnage. no way around it now. roof rack starts to get caught, and then progress is made, IT MOVES! all of a sudden *Crash* there goes the back glass.

seven: finally got it out to a straight pull and the vehicle's own power is actually helping.

not too long after a fart smeller (smart feller) on a ATV pulls up close to garretts already bruised truck and attempts to manuver around it, muttering to himself, but still out loud, "man im probably gonna hit that truck " and then bam. right into his front pass door, insurance info is given and recieved we move on.

Wow! Sounds like a heck of a trip. I'm bummed I can't see pictures at work... makes me almost want to drive home for lunch to check it out

Body damage sucks, and too bad about the moron on the ATV. Think you can turn the tree damage in on that claim too?

So, is it safe to say he won't be attempting that obstacle again? Hope everyone else survived the trip in good shape. Oh, and it sounds pretty interesting for a "noob run"!
