22R Power Steering help

ok, I'm putting power steering on an '85 Pickup, and I'm confused. which side of the engine block does the power steering pump go on? the intake side(left when facing truck), or the exhaust side? I see three tapped holes on the block on either side, but the reservoir is on the right side of the engine bay, so where does the pump mount to?

it mounts on the drivers side up above the alternator, so its close to your push pull box, or power steering box, which ever one your gonna use.

thanks. I'm putting high steer on my truck next weekend, and I figure I might as well add the power steering since I'm using a pwr steering box anyways.

it takes a 2 brackets to mount the pump. Do you have both brackets?

btw, it mounts on the drivers side of the head. The Resevoir is also supposed to mount on the drivers skirt, and the big hose running from the resevoir to the pump (its a non-pressure feed hose) is about 12" long

I THINK I have both brackets. What I have is a bracket that the pump mounts directly to, and then the idler pulley. Do I need another one? thx for the reservoir hose length, I was gonna have to figure that out after I mounted the pump.

oh forgot about the idler bracket.

That makes 3 brackets then. There is a Y shaped bracket then mounts from the bottom of the main pump mount, down to the block under the water pump.

lol you're not supposed to say "uh oh" Dealership, or local wrecking yard should have it.

I just added power steering to my 85 truck, i didn`t have the y shaped bracket, i didn`t know about it until now, and in my opinion the y shaped bracket isn`t needed. the pump and idler pulley are mounted to the engine with all the other brackets and bolts and is very solid.

Well, toyota designed it for a reason. Reason being it puts less downward stress on your cylinder head when the belt it tightened, among others. I wouldn't install my power steering without it, but then again I am very picky about my babies.
