Need a repair opinion...diff cover

Hey all,

I wrecked my '92 in Dec (#$%^ it!) and the front diff cover got smacked in the process. The crossmember (IFS) got shoved into the cover leaving a quarter sized hole and a big crack around where the support (that the big bolt goes through) protrudes. I'm sure the crack can be welded, but not sure about the hole. Sorry..... I don't have any pics to show the damage at the moment, but if you can picture it?

So, my questions...
Would it be worth repairing considering the cost of a new one or would that be "tricky" considering the support the cover lends to the diff?

Also, would anyone happen to have one used? I looked in the classf'd section and found nothing but complete diff units or covers for SA's.

Thanks,
Matthew

SAS!

Sorry - that one's inevitable.

X2 on that, or eBay. A used housing shouldn't set you back too horribly much if you have time to shop around. I'd have to also second the SAS comment.

This is my wife's Toy, fellas. She likes the IFS....very much. It's the "comfy" ride! No SAS, no man. hub conv, etc. Although, she does like the idea of an e-locker in the rear...for towing up our muddy hill, of course.

There's NOTHING around my area in salvage in the way of individual parts like this. Especially for earlier model 4rnr's. Then, I seem to always find that when I need something. I'll PM those with the offers. And thanks, anyway, for that offer Drew. A free one + shipping would be real nice without a doubt.

Thanks again!
