Grinding noise from the drivers front.... 85 Pickup
Alright, Hi guys... I've gotten into a little bit of a spot with my yota..... and I really need some help...
I've got an 85 carburated 4x4 pickup, And probably about a week ago, I started noticing a squeeling, or a whining noise coming from my brakes when I applied them... And I figured... hmm... gonna need to check the brakes soon.
About a day ago... I started feeling some strange... Griding when applying the brakes... But only slight... almost more like I was running over rocks, when coming to lower speeds braking, it got worse as I got closer to a stop. The problem worsened, a lot today, and when I noticed, I headed back home, and took the wheel off on the front driver. From what I can find, the pads had half the life left, or maybe even more. And I couldent find any problem with the rotor, but I didn't check all the back... but then I noticed the top bolt of the caliper was missing, and the caliper was loose. So I went, got a new bolt, and rebolted.
Took it out for a test drive, and now the grinding is MUCH Worse than before, even while I'm just driving and not applying brakes. Does anyone have any ideas what could have happened, and what I need to do to fix? Please help!

Well, I figured out the problem was... that the replacement bolt I put in was too long, and was holding the rotor in place, and scraping it, as the tires turned, fortunatly, I didn't go far on that. Either way, I've got new brakes, and got that side disassembled, but since I was down there anyway, I wanted to go ahead and replace my axle seals... but I can't find anyone who carries them, save Advance auto, who will take 4 to 5 days to order them. So tomorrow I'm gonna go check a local parts place, and car quest, and if they can't give it to me, I'm just gonna go batty.
No one wanted to help with my issue? :'(
Well, if anyone does look at this now, I just got outer wheel bearings to replace, cause again I just figured... while I'm down there... cause they would have to order the inner, but since they seem to be alright anyway, think I'm ok just going with outer? ty in advance.

If your going all the way in to replace the inner seal you may as well get a rebuild kit there are other gaskets and seals that you might F-up taking it apart and if you don't have them there your parked till you get them.

Really? I can order parts here? Can I get rush delivery?
And I was noticing the other gaskets on the hub. Is that what you're talking about? Cause whoever did this last just seemed to use RTV. Well, No wonder the thing was leaking so much... but this is gonna take a lot of cleaning....
Hey, as for procedure for most of this stuff, I get to clean it all, Then pretty much just dip everything in multi perpose grease, and slap it together, right?
Ty all.
