What yr 4runners had the "U" shaped brackets on the cargo cover?

What yr 4runners had the "U" shaped brackets on the cargo cover?
I bought this cargo cover for my 4runner, but I have the boxed squared end and this has a "u" shaped end. I was told it came out of a 2001. Can someone tell me what yrs came with this bracket end?

the round end piece is not present on my 98. i have a square connector.
