Question New R&P as well as locker change

Hey guys,

So Troy and I are starting our research on what to do about my front broken ring and pinion. Currently I have 5:71's in there. We really need to replace it with 5:71 since I can't afford to re-gear the rear and I need the low gearing since I have the 3-slow with an automatic on 35's. (So I can at least go 85mph on the highway on my way to Moab).

While I am in there, I might as well upgrade to a selectable locker since currently I have a Detroit Tru Track - and well with the way I wheel I get a front tire off the ground too much and lose the use of the locker unless I start playing with the break (and even then I only get 3/5ths resistance).

So what to do?

Buy R&P, and then a locker seperate, and hire it out to be installed. (Sorry I won't touch my gears!)

Buy a set up 3rd member?

Anyone got what I need?

Discuss amongst yerselves....

Ok so more info:

* If I do an air locker I'll need the compressor too since I have a rear E-locker.

* I've got a quote from Randy's Ring and Pinion: (www.ringpinion.com) Quote from Randy's ring and pinion - for assembled Toyota 8" thirdmember with 5.71's and an ARB locker ('85 front axle).

Cost: Complete 3rd member with a new drop out and no core charge is $1370.00

:pat: No, you have a Detroit locker in the rear - it's always locked.

However, we COULD do an elocker in the front probably...

I thought I saw a HP 8" E-locker FS on here not too long ago.
