Brake shoes seizing against drum. Will non-metallic shoes fix it?

Hey all,

My shoes have been seizing against the drums after my truck sits with the e-brake on for an extended time. I'm guessing it is in large part due to the very wet fall we have had, and I didn't drive it around much after driving through the flood waters of November to dry them out.

Yesterday they were seized solid. I can usually rock the truck a bit and get them to release, but yesterday I had to pull off the tires and bang both drums with a hammer to get them to free up. I don't remember whether the shoes are non-metallic, but I'm thinking going that route will prevent this from happening in the future.

I do definitely know this is not caused by some other mechanical problem along the e-brake line. Any thoughts?

I rarely use my e-brake unless I'm on a steep hill.
