How to determine if steering recall has been done?

Hello, great forum!

I'm a Yota newb. Bought a '90 4runner with 3VZE. I just removed water pump to repair slow leak. Wow! Untimed the moder just to get the waterpump!!

Timing belt was new, so I left it there. Head gaskets looked new from the exposed corners you can see. That's nice!

How can I tell if the steering recall has been done. What do I look for? Thanks!

Call up the dealership and give em your vin. They'll have it on file.

Thx. I live 100 miles from the nearest dealer. Sure i can call, but i won't be driving over for the fix.

Is there any way to tell just by looking?

Thx.

If you look under the front of your truck you should see this. If it was done not to long ago you should be able to tell if its new or not.

But i would still follow Swampthing`s suggestion and call the dealer to make sure.

THANKS!

Doesn't hurt to call, so I'll take that advice as well.

I think they're supposed to put a sticker in the door jamb, but calling is the best way. Be sure to read the ENTIRE thread stickied at the top.

Note that the new ones bend A LOT easier than the old ones.
