any way to test removed egr?

Just wondering if I can test my EGR valve without my truck running.

I had to grind off the nut on bottom of valve (that prev owner had welded on for some reason) to prep for headers and I had someone braze a new fitting onto the bottom of the valve so I could apply tubing to header. the guy who did it claimed the egr valve is proabably screwed now though because of the heat required for the braze.

any way for me to check?

Do a search on removing the EGR valve. One of those threads go into how to test it...I just don't remember which one exactly.

It's real simple, though. There's a hard line at the top of the valve that a vacuum line goes to. Suck on it with the bottom gas port open. If the diaphragm moves up and down, okay. If you suck on it with the port closed off with a finger and air gets past, then it's bad. But, I'm going by memory and that's a tad foggy at the moment. Anyhow, there are plenty of threads on it. Good luck!
