Tire Size for 88, will it fit?
I got an 88 4runner with add-a-leafs in rear and torsion crank up front for about 1 1/4" lift. Ive got wheels with a little more backspacing than stock. I dont know exactly how much, they came with truck. Sadly i cant go and measure all this stuff, im currently in Korea. I need a new pair of tires for when i get back (4runner is on jackstands now, sold tires to friend). I want some 32x11.5x15 but im not sure if they'll fit. Anybody know how these tires will fit on there? Before i had 31x10.5 and they worked awesome but id like to get a little more clearence and a little bigger footprint for sand. Ideas??

Before I started moding my 88 4Runner, I ran 33x12.50 on the factory aluminum 15x7 wheels with no problems. I didn't even mess with the torsion bars, after putting them on. Yes I wheeled it hard this way, with no problems. Your wheels having different backspacing and not knowing their width can be a problem. Going one way with the backspacing or going with a wider rim causes the tires to hit fender lip way before the bumpstops hit. Going the other way causes the tire to rub the inner fender well. Mine touched the inner fender just a little, when extremely flexed.
PM me with your email address and I will send you a big pic of mine with this setup.
Hope this helps,
Posey

is it Auto or manual tranny? tire size will make a huge difference if it is an auto tranny. will loose alot of power due to gearing issues. manual tranny also will have isues, but you can control shifting with that.
I had 32 x 11.5 BFG all terrain on my first 87 pickup with a stock lift and they never rubbed or hit anything, but did notice the loss in power from upsizing.
my 2 cents! LOL!
Peace and Merry Christmas!
