Have you had any HG failures after install??

If so, do you know why?

I am about to replace my 2nd HG of ownership (maybe more before we bought it) and am trying to justify the cost of the extra parts/labor. I do not want to do this again, but I dont have the funds or the time for a V8/3.4/diesel/Land Cruiser swap.

I believe wholly that the biggest cause of HG failures in our trucks was the bad design of original HG followed very closely by the sucky design of the exhaust crossover and where it dumps together at the back of the engine.

The answers seem obvious:
1. use the composite/steel gaskets at HG replacement with proper prepping of the mating surfaces.
2. eliminate the heat of the exhaust system from the back corner of the engine where it seems most HG's are failing and causing excessive heat in the #6

If you have done both of these, what, if any HG issues have you had?

well seeing as how thats exactaly where i blew my hg that head issue sounds prety accurate, i have ut headers on and had no problems with my hg and i also have the composit hg's but ive only put abour 7k on the gastgets sooo that isnt saying much.
