Hey whats up guys and Q's about propeller and vibration

Hey whats up guys I recently bought a 93 4runner and found the headgasket was about to go, but I really liked the car, so I traded up to 00 4runner limited had the 93 for only 2 weeks and I was sold, so my 2nd suv and 4runner. Gotta say I like this one even better, had a CEL when i bought it and it scanned p0171 or p0173... right bank too lean, so I cleaned the MAF and replaced the fuel filter and added a bottle of chevron Techron and it went away, but a few things

1)front propeller shaft <-- anyone got a write up on how to remove this or a link to a FSM?? i wanted drop the tranny pan and have enough room to get the pan back on with a good seal w/ RTV only

2) shakes like a mofo on highway 65 and up. read up on it seems like the rims are lugcentric?? dont know what that means and something about balancing w. a haweka??? can some one enlighten a newbie

3)I noticed there is like 4 different 4wd modes,

press in 4wd button on side of shifter = AWD mode???

shift down to H4L mode = true 4wd mode???

and then there is 4L, neutral, and some thing else.... sorry i dont have a owners manual, is there a correct way to use these or shift into these all, and what mode do you guys use for snow/rain usually.

3)keyless remote, I dont have one when I bought the car, if I buy one how do I program it, I remember on my maxima I turned the key a bunch of time and the door lock button to program my keyless remote without going to the dealers, any way to do this on the 4runner?

I have plans to flush all the fluid, and at 74k I'm do the waterpump, timing belt, spark plug (anybody got a part # for the denso platinum??) and if need be the brakes, then I'll start modding it, probably same plan I had for the 93 I had, blisteins and some coil upgrade w/ some poly bushings.

any help is appreciated. thanks guys

I can help you on some of the questions.

1) It sounds like your wheels are out of balance. Get them balanced. Some shops have a harder time balancing lugcentric wheels. Get them balanced and see what happens.

2) Your '00 Limited has multi-mode 4WD. This means you have standard two wheel drive. Then press the button on the side of shifter and you get an all-wheel-drive option that let's you drive on dry pavement safely. Then you can put it into 4WD low, which changes your gear ratio. There is also a locking center differential that is activated by pushing a button. The details should be in your owner's manual.

Hope this helps,

thanks man, yeah i got to pickup a owners manual as i dont have one. I figured thats what it was, awd mode then full 4wd mode

now if anyone can tell me anything i have to look for when removing the propeller shaft that would be great i think all i have to do is

1)mark shaft to flange relation on both sides

2) take out 4 bolts on each flange

or is there more to it?

Check that timing belt change interval, it might be 90K miles on yours. Oh, and just go with the stock plugs from the dealer. Look up Strap22 on here if you need parts. Good bunch of folks over there at Toyota of Dallas.

Get your wallet ready for mods.
