wondering if anyone has any suggestions for lifting my 2000 toyota 4runner limited 4x4 auto trans.

i have been thinking about starting with the 3" body lift from 4crawler
price with shipping is roughly 456usd inc shipping w/ poly body mount set
but i am pretty sure that i might have to modify a short shirt system for my transfer case shifter and also modify shift lever length and shape

then 3 inch suspension lift from
sonoran steel
whcih comes with everything front and back for about 1425 usd inc shipping

anyone have any ideas price isnt really an issue just want to have a clean professional install

 

my first suggestion would be scrap the body lift, or if you really want one, go with a 1 inch body lift max.

 

True! giant body lifts are not cool.

well im wondering what the problem with a 3inch body lift would be if it's done right. i really want to keep the stock ride as this is my daily driver for now. from what i hear installing a body lift up to three inches if done right is not an issue mainly because it leaves the majority of vehicles weight where it is stock.

 

By putting 3' body and 3' suspension? Wow. ok. good luck with that.
What size tires are you trying to clear? If 35's, put some money aside for gears.

i was just gonna do the body lift for now and decide about the sus later to keep stock ride. maybe squeeze some 33's on it. i'm new to the forum thing and i am hoping to find some guru's to help me decied what to do.

 

Well were helping you and telling you no go on the 3" BL, I Know they make one but just don't put it on. I was hoping someone who had one would chime in and tell you so themselves but that hasn't happened. If you must go BL (I did a 1") go for a 1.5" or 2". This isn't a chevy or a ford so don't go making i look like one. I'm going to say it all depends on what it is your doing with the truck down the road. If your going to mall crawl than a 3" BL and top out spacer suspension might be the way to go. But I promise that you don't need 3" susp and 3" BL to clear 35's. I built my runner with the 3" susp. and 1" BL and it certainly will clear 35's but I run 295.75.16's so I get a little more articulation before the tire are fully stuffed.

What are you planning on using your rig for ?

I have an 01 runner with a 3 inch revtek lift with 4crawler's 3 inch body lift, stock gears and I am running 35's. I dont go out and climb rocks with her but she sure does look purdy driving down the road one of these days she will be SAS'd, but money talks.

 

I knew someone would finally chime in with a 3" BL. Yeah

i have a 3 in body lift and im in the process of installing a 4 in suspension lift and im going to have to take the body lift off its lookis funny with the body lift now you couldnt tell i had a body lift unless you looked now you can see it and it looks like crap just stick with the suspension lift youll be gkad you did

 

01rnrgirl is your 4runner standard or auto??

im sure ill be driving the runner every day til a find another suitable toyota/lexas for driving around towm and would like to keep the stock ride for now. i was thinkin about just starting with the toytec 3" spacer front and coils rear for now. then think about body lift maybe coilovers in front and better shocks in back.

what do you guys think about revtec vs. toytec spacer lifts?

and toyotas do rock wouldnt drive anything else

My runner is auto. I did not trim to fit 35's. When turning they barely rub on the upper control arms. I have not had to redo the gears (yet). We have taken the truck on a couple snow runs and it did great and we took it on one minor backwoods trail run where it did fine. This truck is my daily driver. I commute 63 miles round trip everyday (to and from work). The ride quality (in my opinion) hasnt really changed. Obviously you cant take a corner going mach1. But all in all I am very very pleased with the lift set up I have on there now. I run 35 inch Cooper Discoverer STT's. I love it for right now One day when the economy gets better she will be solid.

i am curious what had to be done with the t case shifter? i wanna do a 3"body lift and my t case has push button 2/4 i have a feeling that the shifter will hit the console. is the gap really that noticable with 3" body lift?

 

Yes it's that noticable, it'd be like if your girlfriend had a 2" gap in her front teeth. I say only 2" because of the scale size. And the fact that your gf if applicable might weigh between 70-350lbs and the 4Runner 3000-5700lbs.

Here are some pics.

This is after the 3" Revtek lift and 3" 4crawler body lift and sitting on 37's. I didnt leave the 37's on because of the bad rubbage.



This is with the 35's. No trimming. She rubs a little on the upper control arms when turning. no rubbing in the rear. I have not put the t-case shifter extender on yet but will in the future. The 4 wheel drive shifter still works it just looks sucked down.

Yes (in my opinion) the ride pretty much stayed the same. I can still take the same corner going the same speed with 35's that I did with the 33's.

 

Anyone know the highest suspension lift one can put on a 2000 4runner without having to do too linkage work, etc?

I currently have a 3" leveling kit (toytech) that came with front spacers and little bit heavier rear coils. I'm wanting to add some hight to the rear and make the rear more load bearing. I get a lot of droop when I'm loaded down with gear. Partly might be issues with old shocks I'm trying/need to replace.

Any suggestions on new front and rear shocks and more load bearing rear coils without having to do other mods????
