TV tuner card update
Those who have seen my other post on my LeadTek Winfast XP Deluxe TV/FM tuner card, here is an update if you have bought one, or plan to.
Great card, but the TV side of it started crashing Monday.
I'd get the window that asks if you want to send the error report to Microsoft or not.
I even disabled error reporting, but the app still crashed as in no video, but the audio kept playing.
I uninstalled the driver and PVR app many times with no luck.
I wrote to LeadTek today and he asked if I had just updated Nero 6, and why yes, I updated it Sunday.
It appears the new updates for Nero 6 screw with the TV side of the tuner card.
Here is the letter.
So there you have it, the fix for the card.
I am not sure if this effects other brands of TV tuner cards as well such as the ATI All In Wonder and the Happauge brand.
I'm on the laptop now, as I have scan disk running on my main PC.
I'll rename those two files and see if that indeed cures the problem.

HI Corey,
Do you have Nero running on your system? We have lots of reports in these two days that the PVR is not working properly after updating the Nero 6.

My oh my...
Here I was pulling my hair out on what new programs I may have installed over the weekend, and I totally forgot.
Yes, I updated 3 aps in Nero 6.
1. Burning ROM
2. Nero Express
3. IN CD
So, do I need to totally uninstall Nero 6 and go back to the previous 3 updates from a month ago, or will you have a patch perhaps?
This is great news now that I know what the cause of the problem is.
I hope that Nero is aware of this too.
Thanks, Corey
HI Corey,
Nero 6 latest update includes two new decoders that did not appear in
earlier versions. These decoders are the "Nero QuickTime Audio Decoder"
(NeQTADec.ax) and "Nero QuickTime Video Decoder" (NeQTVDec.ax). These files
can be found in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\" After
renaming both these files, WinFast PVR should work correctly.

Harry Lan

Yeah...
I renamed the two files by putting my name in them, and it's cured.
All is well in TV land now on my PC
I am very happy and pleased with LeadTek's tech support.
They are on the ball.

Have not played with it yet.
I do have an old Sony camcorder (Hi 8) that uses S video, but my youngest son has it now.
Some day I'll test it out to see if I can transfer video from the tape on it to the PC.
Should work since this has video capture.
I'd suggest writting to LeadTek's support address like I did today, and they should get back to you.
