I'm building the website for my sister's Homeowners Association and one of the features I'd like to include is an online forum/message board. I'd like it to be similar to this one - threaded navigation, easy to use, and quick. The catch is I need it to be free. Any recommendations on where to find such a forum I can use?

 

If you have free hosting arranged, you can use phpBB. It's a free download.

It is similar to vBulletin, but I've heard not as user friendly (from an admin standpoint).

Check out www.pghoffroad.com. It is done in phpBB.

 

phpBB is open source and not to hard to set up. I've never been in volved in the interworkings of vBulletin, so I can't speak on that.

You'll need php and MySQL installed for you to use phpBB.

 

Another vote for phpBB, very sleek and constantly updated, plus there are a lot of themes and hacks out there for it. Best of all, it's free. I guess the question to ask is whether or not you or your host have PHP/MySQL installed?
