I know how to do this with my 3rd party photo program, but I can't tell you how many friends/relatives, etc. can't send me pics because they are too LARGE for email.

Does XP have an easy way to reduce the file size of fresh pics a digital camera? People keep trying to send me 2mb files and that's only for one picture!

I need to tell these people how they can do this on XP without having to download something.

It's been a while since I have used it but I think this may do what you need.

 

Yep, the Power Toy above works great for down sizing the pic.

Jason, it sounds like they are sending you the raw pics from the camera, and I bet they are also sized anywhere from 1280x1024 on up to 1600 or higher.

They need to learn to use 3rd party software to bring the pic down to around 1024x768 so it is smaller, and so you can also view in on your screen.

Also another advantage of using 3rd party software is you can brighten it up a bit.
Most pics right out of the camera are a little dark, and a little messing around with a program can bring out much more detail.
