Hooking a portable MP3 player up to a factory stereo
What are some options I have available for doing this? Cheaper is better, so I'm naturally assuming iPod is out of the question. I don't need a huge player either. A couple of gigs would do wonderfully.
So basically I'm assuming the only way I'm going to be able to input anything since I don't have a tape deck is to use an FM modulator. Has anybody here used one of these? How has your experience with it been?
Also, I'd appreciate some recommendations for a good player on the cheap side. Thanks!
Oh yeah, I posted this here also in case it would be more appreciated in the computer forum instead of audio.

well from my experience with this there are three ways. Although I never seen the third way I'm gonna mention used for an ipod, but it might work.
FM Modulator - Easiest to hook up and the worst sound quality. No wire mess though
Tape Deck input - Easy to hook up and better then FM quality, tape quality if not a little better.
Antenna split - Like used on XM or Sirius Radio. Harder to hook up but offers the best of the three sound quality (cd quality so I hear). I dunno if there is a way to hook up an ipod like this. You can hook up a xm or sirius radio like that so maybe you can find a company that makes an input for this, or maybe the same wire connector will work (doubt it). The only other better quality for playing an xm or sirius is a HD unit that supports it.
Then you always got HU with AUX hook ups in the front. I imagine that would be really good quality. Then better yet is an MP3 HU. Of course your not looking to change the head...soo...I dunno I would look into the third if you have time and dont mind tearing out the radio to add the spliter. If you do I'd go with the tape deck thing before the FM modulator....
