Editing an MPG file

I have a 1.36 GB file of a 30 minute episode I recorded a month or so back of Dawn the NVIDIA mascot singing Evanescence's "Bring Me To Life."

I am trying to edit out all the other stuff in the half hour show except for the 3 minutes or so video, but no luck.

The file is to big for MS's Movie Maker, and I do not know what I am doing using Nero.
I can see it on the timeline, but I can not get just the segment I want.
I want to make a seperate shorter mpg of just the song.

Is there any freeware that will do this?

Got it

I figured it out with Nero.
Nero is great software, takes a little bit to get used to though.

Once I edited it down to just the vid, it was close to 30 mb.
I then opened it up in Windows Movie Maker and saved it as a 512 kb Broadband wmv file sized at around 15 mb.

Click the play button, should pop up full screen if you double click the vid.
The volume is very low, my fault when recording it a few months back.
