Exclamation Be carefull buying memory sticks etc. online

I just bought what I thought was a 2gig sony flashdrive on ebay. The buyer had good feedback with over 700 transactions.
When I plugged it into a USB port a came up as a 2gig drive, but after copying a lot of stuff onto it crap hit the fan.
They use small flashdrives and reprogram them to come up as larger drives. When you write past the physical limit of the drive it starts overwriting excisting data.
It created a lot of corrupted files, which were also impossible to delete.
I was relatively lucky, after a low level format it seems to be a 1gig. A lot of people got scammed and ended up with 64mb or 128mb drives.

Here is a lot more info on the subject.

Just a heads up, it hits you when you least expect it.
