That is just crazy. I remember once I got a 13GB drive and it was several hundred dollars.

tee-hee... youngster.

My first harddrive was 5 MEG and I paid about $600 for it. It was made up of two 8" platters in an _external_ case about 16" x 10" x 6".

I have a buddy who was running 100meg drives for a while (circa 1978) that he got surplus. Those were _20"_ platters in a free-standing external case.

how do Seagates compare to Western Digital, Iomega and other HD drives?

Seagate makes good stuff. If I had a desktop, I'd be using a Seagate HD.

If I remember right, it was about 94-95 when hard drives hit $1/meg & we all thought that was a screaming deal. Now it's under $1/gb
